Master of Christian Studies
MCS courses are foundational, in terms of the student's ability to think biblically and theologically, and synergetic, fostering effective ministry. MCS students become biblically and theologically grounded, while developing ministry skills that integrate faith and learning.
The residential MCS program (Jackson, Memphis-Germantown, Hendersonville) fosters integration by pairing interrelated subject matter within a given term and by encouraging students to apply classroom learning to local church ministry through directed assignments.
The online program, originally designed for those under appointment or seeking appointment by an SBC missions agency or those whose vocational goals include direct involvement in church planting, focuses all courses on the missions task of the church, within the context of biblical and theological studies.
Most courses, whether on one of Union's three physical campuses or online, are offered in an accelerated eight-week format, and are offered at least once every year.
The MCS program seeks to advance God's kingdom around the world by laying a solid biblical and theological foundation and leading students to integrate their studies with ministry, from the Mid-South region to the far corners of the earth.
