Reformed Theological Seminary, Virtual Campus
RTS was established in Jackson, Mississippi in 1966 by a group of laymen with a burden for a seminary in the southeast that held to Reformed theology and was committed to the Bible as God's inerrant Word. Twenty years later, a second campus was started in Orlando serving many students from Florida and surrounding areas. This work grew quickly, and a third campus was started in 1994 in Charlotte, North Carolina. "External education" began at the Orlando campus to supplement course offerings for students through taped lectures. By the time the program was moved to Jackson a few years later, twenty courses were available and many students had come to benefit from this help.
In 1997, more changes were made to the program to take advantage of the new developments in what was now called "distance education." Improvements were made in customer service, promotional marketing, course development, and educational technology. Finally, in June of 1998 the Virtual Campus officially became the fourth RTS campus, and within a year offered an accredited Master of Arts (Religion) degree through distance education.
Hundreds of students are now pursuing their seminary education in this innovative way and performing at high levels of academic work and ministry activity. We are grateful to God for the opportunity He has given us to help prepare men and women to serve Him better.
