Bachelor of Arts in History
History comes alive at Judson College. As students study the pre-Columbus period, trips to nearby Moundville help clarify the lives of early Native Americans. Antebellum plantations are available for students to tour as they learn about King Cotton. Both Marion and Selma played pivotal roles in the Civil Rights movement. Studying history at Judson helps students understand their past and gives them avenues to fulfill their future.
Judson students are active in working to preserve history in the local area. One on-going project is to map and catalogue the Marion Cemetery, which includes graves dating back to the 1820s. Soon, History students will begin conducting oral history interviews to save the stories of Civil Rights leaders from the 1960s.
Receiving a B.A degree in History provides students with the tools they need for a wide variety of professions.
Judson History graduates have found employment in schools, libraries, museums, business archives, and civil service jobs. Many have chosen to further their education by working towards graduate degrees in law, political science, public policy, library science and education.
Come join us at Judson College to study history where history lives.
