Master of Arts Christian Ministry
The Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (MACM) is a 72-hour program designed for those who desire to serve the church or a church-related ministry. The Interdisciplinary program provides a well-rounded biblical, theological, and practical understanding of the Christian faith in relation to other disciplines. Students may develop a concentration in one of three areas: Christian Counseling, Global Leadership, or Leadership Coaching. A minimum of 32 hours in a specific area must be taken to establish a concentration. The program is for the following:
- Christian workers (professional or lay) in positions where the master’s degree will allow entrance into a Christian vocation which would not otherwise be possible; and
- Those who need a general seminary education and wish to gain further knowledge in areas associated with practical interdisciplinary Christian ministry, and
- Those who desire to gain expertise in the specific areas of Christian Counseling or Global Leadership.
Interdisciplinary Learning Outcomes
- Acquire a basic understanding of the Bible, theology, and practical ministry; and
- Acquire an understanding of the relationship between biblical and theological disciplines and the integration of practical ministry within those disciplines.
Global Leadership Learning Outcomes
- Acquire an ability to move toward spiritual and emotional health and maturity;
- Acquire experiential knowledge of the stages of leadership development;
- Acquire an ability to lead out of the model and example of Jesus as a servant leader;
- Acquire practical knowledge and experience of team dynamics and the ability to develop and lead a team toward mutual accomplishment of God-given missional goals;
Christian Counseling Learning Outcomes
- Acquire an understanding of the foundational elements of Christian counseling;
- Acquire a biblical worldview by studying God’s revelation in counseling;
- Acquire an understanding of the various types of counseling toward the goal of biblical integration within the framework of Christian principles and practice; and
- Acquire an ability to apply basic counseling and referral skills in a multi-cultural society.
Leadership Coaching Learning Outcomes
- Acquire knowledge and skills of coaching foundations including meeting ethical guidelines and professional standards and establishing the coaching agreement;
- Acquire skills in co-creating the coaching relationship including establishing trust;
- Acquire communication skills, i.e., active listening, vital questions, and direct communication leading to awareness, designed actions, planning, goal setting, progress, and accountability;
- Acquire skills to assist a wide-range of organizational leaders i.e., executives and pastors.
