In today's Slate, Lisa Guernsey shares her experiences from three days at Zurich International School, "a private school that caters to English-speaking immigrants and expats whose companies have brought them to this exquisite city near the Alps."  In particular, she notes that every student in first through eighth grades has been given an iPad but their use wasn't what she had anticipated.

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) recently released their Guide on the Use of Open Educational Resources in K-12 and Postsecondary Education. According to the press release, "This Guide provides a framework for understanding open educational resources (OER), and it examines development and implementation costs, current business models, government and philanthropy’s role, and other considerations around the use of OER."

Online Learning Student Satisfaction

In the latest issue of the International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning (IRRODL), is "A predictive study of student satisfaction in online education programs."  In this research the authors used regression analysis to determine that "learner-instructor interaction, learner-content interaction, and Internet self-efficacy were good predictors of student satisfaction while interactions among students and self-regulated learning did not contribute to student satisfaction."

2013 Horizon Report Released

The annual Horizon Report from the New Media Consortium and EDUCAUSE has been released.  The technologies highlighted in the report include MOOCs (Massively Open Online Courses), tablet computing, gaming, learning analytics, 3D printing, and wearable technology.
