Online Education: A New Graduation Requirement

In this technological age, more education experts believe that students can learn more efficiently through a virtual classroom. The state of Florida has been steadily expanding its online education offerings, and this expansion is could mean requiring an online course for every graduating high student. According to The Miami Herald, virtual classrooms help reduce education spending and offer students access to more class choices.


According to this article, students outside of more urban areas benefit from online education because it provides electives that these smaller rural schools do not have the funds to offer. While more class options are good, some critics worry that online education is more about saving money than student success. Students cannot always choose which classes that they can take in the virtual classroom and the traditional classroom.  Those in favor of online education see the potential of technology and its power to make the classroom better.
