With more students wanting to take courses online, higher education institutions have recognized this thriving trend and have included online learning in their long term plans. According to an article in Tech Journal South, a recent study “Online Learning Trends in Private Sector Colleges and Universities” suggests that online education has had a positive influence on higher education.


According to the article, the colleges and universities surveyed and studied included non-profit and for profit institutions. In both types of schools, students want online education courses in addition to traditional classroom structures. Online education allows students to interact with new technologies which helps students become more marketable when looking for employment.
