Due to increasing budget cuts, most high schools have been forced to minimize their summer school programs or cancel them. According to a recent survey, "Over a third of American schools are considering eliminating summer school altogether for the 2010-2011 school year."
CIO and associate dean for e-learning at the College of Business of the University of Illinois, Lanny Arvan, decided to teach his class with the use of blogs. Before implementing this in his class, he tested it out to see how comfortable it could be to blog. Once he introduced it to his students, he began to notice that most students were "awkward in their initial blogging."
There are a set of Universal instructional design (UID) principles that are appropriate for distance education. These principles were used to access the accessibility level of a sample online course in Moodle. In looking at these accessibility levels, recommendations were made to "improve the accessibility of online DE to learners with diverse abilities, disabilities, and needs."
A telephone survey was conducted by Princeton Survey Research Associates International among 2,252 adults ages 18 and older. The survey showed a growth in the usage of mobile devices among adults since last year.
