CURRICULUM DESIGN
Instead of the traditional curriculum design, we researched what Christians at both leadership and non-leadership levels need to know and be able to do. We then used this analysis to develop a series of learning outcomes and from this we developed the curriculum. In other words, the subjects you study all yield essential knowledge and skills; there is no redundant or superfluous material in your study programme.
The Core curriculum consists of just three subjects and is designed to ensure that all students start off with a basic understanding of key issues, doctrines and practices. All subjects conform to Bachelors degree standards and so the Certificate counts for a full 120 credits towards a B.Th degree. The Diploma in Biblical Studies consists of a further 120 credits. The Bachelors programme consists of 480 credits (with an optional exit point at 360 credits) and equates to an Honours degree. For those more familiar with the US system this equates to the 128 credit degree.
Accreditation
The SA Theological Seminary is one of the only private tertiary institutions to have been awarded accreditation for the BTh programme. The standards in South Africa are extremely high as far as accreditation is concerned. There is only one body that is authorised to accredit tertiary institutions, namely the Council on Higher Education, which has a stated policy of national and international comparability. In this regard we have been subjected to a very stringent evaluation. You are therefore assured that the degree you earn is of the highest standard and that the credits are fully portable.
