Luther Rice University has designed the Bachelor of Arts in Religion (BAR) with a balanced emphasis between biblical and theological subjects, ministry topics, and general education requirements (academic courses which are considered core to a college or university education), the student’s entire college education will be functional and practical.
The purpose of the Bachelor of Arts in Religion (BAR) is to prepare students to serve in local churches or other forms of Christian work and ministry.
Graduates of the BAR program will be prepared to:
* Demonstrate effectiveness in oral and written communication.
* Demonstrate an understanding of World civilizations.
* Demonstrate an understanding of modern society and culture.
* Demonstrate an understanding of basic concepts in algebra and physical science.
* Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Bible and Christian theology, and Church history.
* Apply knowledge of the Bible and Christian heritage to a lifelong pattern of spiritual growth and personal development.
* Evaluate and develop ministries in light of the Great Commission and Great Commandment.
* Develop appropriate exegetical and expository messages and lessons from Scripture.
* Organize and administer the ministries of the local church.
* Demonstrate an understanding of counseling principles and techniques required to meet individual needs.
