Ways to Earn Credit When you enroll, your team of Academic Advisors will evaluate the credit you have already earned from among the following credit sources. Based on that evaluation, they will work with you to develop a personalized degree completion plan. You will choose the courses and for-credit exams that best fit your degree program, learning style, budget, and schedule. Excelsior College Courses Go to Excelsior College Courses and view the array of distance courses in liberal arts, criminal justice, business, information technology, other technology, portfolio assessment, and nursing. Courses are offered in three formats: WebCT ( a "virtual classroom"), Web-based, where you work at your own pace within the course term, and instructor-led CD-ROM. We also offer a Course Tuition Plan to help you budget. Excelsior College Examinations Earn credit in your own space, at your own pace with Excelsior College Examinations. Choose from over 40 exams in the arts and sciences, business, education, and nursing, at both the upper and lower levels, prepare with valuable learning resources, and test when you're ready at convenient locations. Or choose from other approved exam programs such as CLEP, DANTES and more, including certain IT vendor certification exams! Other Distance Courses Tap into our DistanceLearn? database to choose from thousands of distance offerings from regionally accredited colleges and universities. Traditional College Courses Earn college-level credit in certain subjects at a campus near home or work if you wish. Credit for Training Make the most of training completed through the military, criminal justice programs, and other job settings when the training has been approved by the American Council on Education (ACE), National PONSI, Excelsior College, or another regionally accredited college or university. Portfolio-Based Assessment In the Portfolio-Based Assessment program, faculty will assess your prior degree-related, college-level learning acquired from considerable life/career experience ? specifically, students who have been in their field for years, have the experience and credentials, and would like to have that knowledge evaluated for course credit at Excelsior College. In order to submit this portfolio, you must participate in Excelsior College's Portfolio Development course, which helps you work through the process of developing a resume, filling out the required documents, and packaging it all together for submission to the faculty for evaluation.
