Welcome to the Organizational and Human Resource Development (O.H.R.D.) program at Abilene Christian University. This 36-hour Master of Science degree program is an interdisciplinary program in organizational leadership and human resources.

The O.H.R.D. program incorporates the following disciplines: communication, psychology, business and management sciences and conflict resolution courses - making it one of the most integrated graduate programs in the United States.

The O.H.R.D. degree provides a competitive advantage for candidates in various top-level careers. Critical thinking and strategic planning courses provide credible tools for the new 21st century decision maker.

The Organizational and Human Resource Development Program is designed for students interested in becoming decision makers skilled in critical thinking, strategic planning, conflict resolution and an appreciation for diversity. O.H.R.D. courses examine conflict resolution and theory, mediation, organizational behavior, intercultural communication, human resources, teams and team leadership, social change and persuasion.

The M.S. in Organizational and Human Resource Development program is a 36-hour program comprised of ten courses and a capstone.

The Organizational and Human Resource Development program is designed to equip students to become leaders who integrate faith with critical and global thinking in a variety of organizational contexts.

This outcome will be demonstrated through the following five program competencies.

  • Discern and develop leadership strengths through the integration of study and personal reflection.
  • Articulate and apply the knowledge, techniques, and skills of conflict resolution.
  • Conduct rigorous evaluation of professional and ethical behavior in the workplace.
  • Articulate the importance of diversity in the workplace, identify diversity in the workplace, and develop strategies for welcoming diversity.
  • Assess organizational training and consulting needs and implement relevant training and consulting protocols using applied theories and skills.
