John Wesley College Changes Name to Laurel University

Earlier this month, John Wesley College changed its name to Laurel University.  President Larry McCullough stated in a news release (as reported in the Greensboro, NC News & Record) that “With the new name choice, the school re-affirms its strong commitment to our interdenominational Christian heritage and mission.  We want a name that speaks of a future, a new horizon, that communicates energy and progress with simplicity.”

They've grown numerically in the past year through an expansion of their online degree offerings.  Last summer they launched an online MBA They offer a number of online degrees and recently added an online Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program with an emphasis on traditional American family and Christian values.  Their online MBA also touts its "avatar" program in which students serve an internship in a fictitious virtual company.  Late last year they also acquired the DETC-accredited Universidad FLET which enrolls students in English and Spanish language online undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Laurel University is an interdenominational Christian college accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education.
